Screener – Temporary (KSSH)

Temporary, Days, 7:30am-4pm

Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to screen employees, patients, vendors, and visitors entering any Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital. Screeners are responsible for making sure that everyone entering the hospital is wearing a mask/face covering at all times. All KSSH staff should have a mask. You will hand out disposable masks to visitors’ as needed. Screeners are responsible for taking temperatures and asking questions as required.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Strong communication skills and able to provide excellent customer service.
  2. Effectively adheres to KSSH policies, guidelines, and care commitments; including confidentiality of all patient and business information, infection prevention, safety guidelines, emergency coded, dress code, and KSSH standards.
  3. Knowledgeable on how to properly use thermometers; including temporal, infrared, and face screening tablets.
  4. Knowledgeable of screening guidelines and stays up to date on guidelines/requirements. Able to effectively communicate changes and/or new guidelines /requirements to patients, visitors, and peers when necessary.
  5. Knowledgeable of screening questions, and how to respond to various answers
  6. Knowledgeable of visitation guidelines and can effectively communicate to patients and visitors.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention guidelines, sanitizing work area, and proper use of PPE.
  8. Knowledgeable of departmental locations, wayfinding, and assists with directions and/or escorts.
  9. Informs and/or provides feedback regarding staff, visitor, and situational concerns.
  10. Exhibits a professional approach to all situations and is proactive in analyzing issues/concerns effectively and works towards a solution. Escalate issues to the proper person in a timely manner.
  11. Maintain ample screening supplies and place order for additional supplies as needed.

Non-Essential Functions

  1. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital.
  2. Remains knowledgeable of and follows the policies of the Hospital.
  3. Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital confidentiality at all times.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Knowledgeable of departmental locations, wayfinding, and assists with directions and/or escorts.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention guidelines, sanitizing work area, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  4. Exhibits a professional approach to all situations and is proactive in analyzing issues/concerns effectively and works towards a solution.

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Candidate must be able to read and speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading computer skills, communication skills to deal well with the public as well as peers. Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation. Hearing for low, medium and high pitch sounds. Up and down activity may be required 5-6 hours day. Job risks include: Exposure to public for 8 hours per day with screening public at entry of KSSH, lifting of 20-30 pounds maximum.
